Ashumet Pond Iron Barrier Project Schedule

The Ashumet Pond iron barrier installation work will begin on Monday August 9, 2004 and is expected to be completed by Friday, September 3, 2004. Work will be conducted Mondays through Thursdays, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with ½ hour equipment setup starting at 6:30 a.m.

The proposed schedule for the installation work is as follows:

8/9/04 – 8/12/04: (Completed)

Install Dura-base mats along shoreline
Install silt-barriers in pond and along shoreline
Place pumps with secondary containment along shoreline
Install Aqua-barriers along shoreline and inflate with pond water

8/16/04 – 8/19/04:

Continue to install Aqua-barriers along shoreline and inflate with pond water
Set-up sump pumps and bag filter for de-watered area

De-water the first section of the barrier area
Perform pre-excavation survey of pond bottom elevations

8/20/04 – 8/22/04:

Continue to de-water first section of barrier area

8/23/04 – 8/26/04:

· Excavate pond sediments, screen, mix with iron and backfill first section of barrier area

Repeat the above actions (aqua barrier, de-water, excavate and backfill) for the second section of the barrier area

8/30/04 – 9/2/04:

Deflate/drain Aqua-barriers and remove from pond
Perform post-excavation survey of pond bottom elevations
Collect samples of barrier material
Clean-up aqua-barriers and remove from the site
Remove Dura-base mats, clean and remove from the site
Remove all equipment from site and cleanup site area
